The skies were a radiant Southwestern blue, the weather a perfect 70 degrees and the activity around the Historic Hubbell House was intense. The morning found the house ready for its first party. Tents, chairs and tables, provided by Bernalillo county were decorated by Linda Ortiz and her team while the smell of the meat, tended by Albert Chavez, cooking in a 7 x7 x 7 foot pit, wafted through the air. Benny and his team arrived with food provided by Ted Garcia of La Hacienda and set up. Tables for the registration, raffle, membership, brick sales and retablo painting set up under shady areas. Inside the house displays with history of the house and artifacts were ready and docents were posted in the rooms to give visitors information and the flavor of the house. Handouts were made and set out. The musicians set up Hector Pimentel and Sons Guitar makers in the Grand Sala and the Holy Water and Whiskey band in the middle field (Continued on page 4) |

Demonstration Garden, Heritage Orchard and Nature Trail All Growing Strong Well! we are open for business and looking forward to a very successful 2008 at the Hubbell Farm! Many activities and efforts have taken place, and the Gutierrez – Hubbell Property is shaping up on schedule. We have completed most of the nature trail with just a few embellishments remaining. We have ordered trail marker signage and picnic benches to make the trail path a relaxing and educational experience. By the spring of 2008, we will complete the remaining south path of the trail. The Gutierrez-Hubbell trail will be enjoyed by all for many years to come.
