(Continued from Pres. Ltr. page 4) have agreed to help with fundraising. Linda Ortiz has taken on the brick fundraiser, Arlette Hill has agreed to guide the docent program, Maureen Murphy will organize the speakers bureau, Barbara CDeBaca will help with grants writing. The Board will do a long range and strategic planning meeting in December. Irene Kersting will help with the purchasing of the furnishings and Julia Seligman has agreed to help set up the store, while Frances Ray has agreed to help with staffing. We need more helpers to make these things happen, so if one strikes your fancy please call or email me (or any board member) to become a volunteer. You will read about the incredibly active Agricultural program led by Lorenzo Hubbell in another section of the newsletter. The demonstration gardens are underway with the help of Eric Garretson and we can accommodate educational programs in side and outside the house now. Although we will not be open regular hours until the spring we are glad to take groups through on tours now. An endowment fund for the Hubbell House Alliance has been started. I want to thank the Janecky Family administering the estate of Bruce Erdal for the $50,000 bequest from Bruce's Estate. Bruce Erdal's parent were the last Hubbells to live in the house. Our annual meting will be held at the house on Nov 28. Please join us. We will cover the progress and the plans as well as elect the Board for the coming year. It takes many hands to make this a success and the jewel of the South Valley! Marjorie Hlava President HHA |
